  1. Does exactly what it should do 5 Star Review

While I'm just 6"2" I do sit a bit high in the saddle. Holding on to my euphonium adds stress which shows up in my tone. I'm a firm believer that the more relaxed I am the better my tone will be. This pad allows that relaxation. It really works!

  2. The height you need 5 Star Review

Euphoniums present a problem other instruments don't: getting the mouthpiece at exactly the right height without having to either bend or bear the weight of the horn in the left arm. For years I tried rolled up towels, blocks of styrofoam and actually lifting the horn off my lap to lift it to the exact height (which varies depending on chair height, by the way), and all I got was frustration and tendonitis.

The euphonium lap pad finally solves the problem. It's adjustable so that you can center the mouthpiece exactly right while still resting the weight of the horn on your leg. It has a nonskid surface so that it doesn't slid off like the towels do. And it's unobtrusive, unlike the strap-on braces.

Other than being slightly pricey for a simple package of styrofoam, I can't think of a downside, and I look forward to using this lap pad for the rest of my euphonium career. Wish I'd thought of it.
